HP Pavilion DV6502 or 9502au Bluetooth and Wireless LAN XP Driver

After installing windows XP you might notice LAN/wireless Driver is missing. So the right driver that proved to be successfull is below:

INSTALLATION:
Download and run the file by (right click and select run as admin) to install.



MANUAL INSTALLATION:
(you will need winrar software to extract the driver file.)

1. after download the wireless i recomend you put the driver on desktop and extarct the files there. (right click on the file you dowloaded, select extract files press ok)

2. open device manager - start - on the search box type DEVMGMT.MSC and press enter.

3.under network adapter list, right click on the devices with yellow (on the picture below it atheros with yellow), select UPDATE DRIVER 
SOFTWARE. (the picture below only as example, your devices may show different label)

 
4.select 2nd option BROWSE MY COMPUTER FOR DRIVER SOFTWARE

then browse to the driver folder you extracted earlier on desktop (Atheros AR5007EG windows 7 folder) - press next and continue until finish.

HP Wireless Assistant for Windows 8

HP Wireless Assistant for windows 8:
HP Utility normally is OS independent means that it will install on any OS. The most use HP Wireless assistant for windows 8 is:

Before Upgrade to windows 8
This issue refer to Upgrading windows 7 to windows8 and not fresh Install. Windows 8Uninstall HP Wireless Assistant in windows 7 because there are possibility it will not work in windows 8. The problem is after upgrading you will not able to turn on or off your wireless using HP wireless assistant. If you already upgrade and having problem with wireless assistant you need to change the BIOS.

Changing BIOS Setting To Default To fix HP Wireless Assistant:
To set the BIOS to default you need to restart you laptop and press F10 on the post screen. The F button may differ across model, sometimes you have to press F2, you can see it written at the post screen.


Go to exit and select Load setup default and press enter.

If failed
Shut down laptop
Remove power cable and battery
Press power switch for 30 sec
Attach power
Power up laptop and hit F10
Enter BIOS and set the changes to default

How to Identify Wireless Card/Device

I feel it is important to write article about this matter since there are lot's of reason for this and i think it is better to explain it in details. Nowadays, many laptop manufacture provide more than 1 wireless driver and ask you to choose base on your specification while there are no information given.

Content:
1. Simple way to Identify your wireless Card Device.
2. Identify your wireless using hardware ID. (Driver not yet installed)

(Driver already installed, if you still didn't install the driver look content no 2.)

1. Press windows + R button,  a windows "RUN" utility will open. (all windows OS)
2. To open device manager Type DEVMGMT.MSC and press enter or OK.


3. Device manager will open, look for Network Adapter and expand it.
Note 1: You can see your wireless name appear (red box in the picture).
Note 2: If it marked with yellow means you need to install the driver for it.


4. Right click on it and select properties, you will get more details about your wireless device.


2. Identify your wireless using hardware ID. (Driver not yet installed)


This 1 is simple, but if no drivers installed, you won't see the wireless name but it will list it as "network adapter", network device or else with yellow mark on it.

1. Right click on the network adapter marked with yellow.
2. Select properties - Details and on the drop down menu select hardware ID.

3. Copy the hardware ID and Google it, you will have more than one line, choose any line to search and you will see the result displaying the exact name for your wireless device. Example i use the 3rd line from picture above
4. Now, there are other result that discuss the same hardware ID in details and give the driver version to use for your device.

5. If your manufacture provide 3 different wireless drivers example Intel, atheros and broadcom, you can use this method to determine which to download and install.
